    Afternoon School Bus Pickup
With the revision of Bylaw 1716 on November 16, 2009 all school bus operators must use Safety Lights and Stop Arms when loading or unloading students within the City of North Battleford. School bus operators must use Safety Lights and Stop Arms during the entire process of loading and unloading students (generally about 10 minutes).

As a result, 15th Avenue will be closed to traffic traveling both East and West from approximately 3:25 to 3:45 pm. For alternatives to using 15th Avenue for traffic or for pick up, please consider the following:

    • there is no parking on the West side of 97th Street between 14th Avenue and 15th Avenue
    • pick up on 97th Street should be okay if you are traveling North
    • pick up on 97th Street between 15th Avenue and 16th Avenue traveling either direction should be okay
    • pick up on 15th Avenue between 97th Street and 98th Street should be okay

    For Students,

    • there can be no entrance or exit from the Student Parking lot onto 15th Avenue during this time frame
    • bus loading will occur ONLY in the bus loading zone along 15th Avenue

    For Parents,

    • please make use of the alternatives described above
    • no pick up in staff parking lot in front of main doors

    For Staff,

    • please ensure that you adhere to these guidelines as well

We recognize that this is a significant change for everyone (school bus operators, students, parents, staff, and the community). The reality is that we have no choice but to follow the law as it exists. The school divisions, City of North Battleford, and RCMP have been working diligently to get some consistency in the application of the law, and further, to ensure compliance by everyone involved. It should be noted that as the implementation of the Safety Lights and Stop Arms is enforced, there will be the expectation that all drivers will abide by the rules of the law. Failure to do so can result in a fine of up to $1000.00.
