Anyone in the world By Craig Ballantyne You need to have a professional weight loss program designed for you if you want to lose weight and burn fat in minimum time. Otherwise, your weight loss workouts will take too long, and you won't get the results you want. Tip - When designing your program for maximal results, make sure you plan your exercises in the optimal order. Now that's a vague tip, isn't it? Just what do I mean by the optimal order? Well, ignoring the warm-up for a second, here's how your training program should be set up in order to have your exercises in the optimal order: 1. Your bodyweight warmup comes first. This prepares you for the rest of the workout, but doesn't waste your time like a 5-minute walk on the treadmill would waste your time. 2. Strength exercises come next (i.e. Your main exercise/superset of the workout - This exercise/superset should be performed with heavy weights and low reps - 3 sets of 6 at the most). 3. Repetition exercises follow (i.e. moderate reps - 4 sets of 8-12, generally used to increase the volume of training in order to cause muscle growth). 4. Endurance exercises are used to finish your strength portion (i.e. high-rep pushups/squats/chin-ups to failure; also, intervals). 5. Intervals complete your fat burning workout. So why did I describe the reader's workouts as backwards? Well, let's take a look at the two biggest mistakes in those workouts: A) Putting endurance work first. Doing too many pushups (endurance exercise) at the start of the workout before the strength exercise is a bad idea. When you do endurance work before heavy lifting, your strength will suffer. There's no question your workout intensity will suffer if you do this. So the take-home message: Make sure you don't fatigue yourself in your warm-up or put a high-rep exercise prior to a heavy strength exercise. B) Putting strength lifts at the end of the workout. Strength should not be put in the second or third superset of the workout. These lifts should be done at the start of your workout (after the correct warm-up), yet I see these being done 20-30 minutes into people's workouts all the time. Remember:
If you want to move fast or train with a high-intensity, you have to be fresh, not fatigued. Following the optimal exercise order will help you do more quality work in each training session...therefore allowing you to get stronger, burn more calories, gain more muscle, and/or lose more fat. Whatever your training goal, it will be made easier by doing things in the right order. So the best weight loss, fat burning, muscle building program would go like this: a) A sufficient, but not overbearing total body warm-up b) Supersets starting with the hardest bodyweight exercises first, ones that can only be done for a few reps (unless you are a bodyweight training animal) c) A gradual decrease in exercise intensity with each subsequent superset, and a simultaneous increase in reps. d) Endurance circuits to complete the workout. e) Intervals if needed. Train smart, train hard, train safe, and you'll get results. Anyone in the world By Doug Green February and March is the time to repot just about all your overwintered plants. The days are getting longer and the plants are beginning to wake up from their winter dormancy. Potting them into larger containers now means that those stretching roots will have the ability to grow and produce a larger plant. And, as we all know, larger plants produce more flowers. Use a pot that is one or at most, two sizes larger than the current container. The accepted garden wisdom is to move from a four inch pot to a five or six. I broke that rule with some plants this week but in this case, the citrus trees were seriously under-potted and while it would have been better to move them up one size, the larger size will work better to balance the heavy top growth and I will not have to repot them in another few months. Even your normal houseplants will benefit from being repotted now. If they have grown well over the past year, reward them with a larger pot. My bay tree didnt do all that well over the winter as it resented the lack of sunlight and missed its greenhouse setting so Im not going to repot it. It will probably make another year in its eight inch pot. But the new Trachelospermum tricolor (Variegated Star Jasmine) with its pink and green variegated leaves has done well so it is going to get a larger pot. This award-winning plant is a sure-fire winner and should be available this spring at better garden centres. Its vine-like habit grows to five feet tall and has fragrant flowers to boot. Mine will live in its pot outside this summer and will come back indoors as it is a bit too tender for my outdoor garden. Repot! The time is nigh. Anyone in the world By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Manny_Jefferson]Manny Jefferson Payday loans, sometimes called paycheck advances or cash advances, are small, short-term loans. (Dont confuse this cash advance with the term used when you borrow money against a prearranged line of credit. They are far from the same thing.) These payday loans do not require a credit check and are typically for amounts smaller than $1500. This kind of loan is normally to help the borrower get by until their next paycheck when money is tight. How you go about getting payday loans is simple. The simplest way to receive payday loans is to give the lender a post-dated check, which will include the money borrowed plus interest. The borrower will get cash in return and the lender agrees to hold the check until the borrowers next payday. On the date indicated on the check, the lender can process it normally or electronically withdraw the money from the borrowers checking account. Today, you can find lenders that offer payday loans everywhere. Most often, they work out of small stores. However, even large banks and financial service providers have begun offering various forms of payday loans. A new variation on payday loans may be available from your regular financial institution! Check with your bank and see if they offer something like a direct deposit advance! If you have your paychecks electronically deposited in your checking account each payday, your bank may offer to give you a small payday cash advance. When you get your next paycheck deposited, the bank will withdraw the amount you borrowed plus the agreed upon fee for the service, which falls somewhere between 10-20% normally. A twist on payday loans may be available through your tax preparation service. Many of the services have begun offering refund anticipation loans to those they prepare taxes for. Theyll loan you a fixed amount and then it will come out of your tax return later, plus their fee. There are also many lenders online willing to offer you payday loans. It requires you fill out an online form, give quite a bit of personal information and then you will either be approved or declined. Most are approved and you will quickly have money in hand through wire transfer or other available methods. Be careful who you choose to receive payday loans from. Shop around and look at many lenders before choosing the one you wish to use. Some charge much higher rates for their services, which will cost you money in the long run. Also, be prepared to pay back the payday loans immediately after your next paycheck arrives. If you fail to pay it back, hefty charges can be added to your loan and you can end up paying much more than you planned. Anyone in the world By Elsie Gilbert Wedding dresses are such an opportunity for any bride to show their unique sense of style and to really make a fashion statement. Gone are the days of the plain meringue style wedding dresses with a little cute well-placed bow; now we are daring to be different! In fact, one of the latest trends is to offer wedding dresses that can be used again. Not only is this a great idea from a budget point of view, but it is also reflective of the simple lines that are part of the modern trend in wedding dresses. Arguably, this fashion is due to the ever increasing age of first time brides as well as the large number of second weddings. Wedding Dresses for the Winter Wedding Whenever we think about wedding dresses, we automatically think of a warm, summers day, with a crisp, wafting white dress to match. However, there is a growing trend towards winter weddings. Winter wedding dresses may not be pure white and are often the preferred choice for second time brides. Trends in winter wedding dresses include deep red colored dresses or dresses that include a large amount of black. Another great idea is to include a fur collar, or long fake fur coat. If you love a touch of luxury and you want something a little different, then winter wedding dresses may just be the thing for you! Wedding Dresses for the Summer Wedding The key to summer wedding dresses, this year, is color. Many wedding dresses are now using substantial amounts of colored fabric to add a classic touch to an otherwise traditional white or cream dress. Weddings are becoming much more sophisticated; generally, brides will select a theme that they will maintain throughout all aspects of their wedding. Wedding dresses must, of course, fit into this theme and as such colors and accessories are vital. Popular, seasonal colors for wedding dresses include lilac, pink, blue and yellow. Often, brides will choose a half-color theme where the bodice is colored or the skirt is colored, but the other half of the dress is kept in a plain cream or white. Subtle is the name of the game with modern wedding dresses. Wedding Dresses Standing Out From the Crowd Today, wedding dresses are all different; no-one wants to look the same as the next bride and, naturally, brides go to extreme lengths to make sure that they stand out from the crowd. Of course everyone wants to do so in a classy and not trashy way! It seems that individually designed wedding dresses are the way of the future. By commissioning a made to measure dress you can make sure that it fits perfectly, is exactly what you want and above all, is unique. Wedding dresses are an expression of your personality, so dont hold back; let your imagination run wild! Anyone in the world By Gerry Lewis In preparing delicious french food, it really is worth the effort to spend the little extra money, time and trouble in buying and cooking just the required amount of top-quality food, instead of playing around with an unnecessary amount of the second-best. It should be borne in mind that the presentation of a carefully prepared dish is of considerable importance. For example, it can make a great deal of difference as to how a dish is arranged and set on the table. It can easily be made to look both attractive and appetizing. Lack of interest or imagination will result in the opposite, distressing, effect. In a recently rediscovered gem of a book - "The Art of Simple French Cookery", a few recipes state that a sauce should be reduced, or cooked gently, until it thickens, Careful and closely watched reduction and blending of a sauce can make all the difference to a dish which, in itself, may have required exacting measurements and preparation. So, surely, as far as sauces are concerned, it is worth both time and trouble to stay in the kitchen and to cook the sauces cautiously without having to go off to attend to other household matters. That little extra patience in the kitchen will also be rewarded if you wish to please your guests by preparing your own Sauce Tomate, Sauce Mayonnaise, Sauce Hollandaise (according to the easy recipes provided in the book) instead of buying tasteless, commercial 'concentrated' substitutes. Whenever possible, use dry white wine, wine vinegar, and fresh, unsweetened cream in cooking. And when butter is mentioned, it must be pure butter, and not a substitute. Brillat-Savarin, the celebrated author of "The Physiology of Taste", claimed that one of the basic principles of cooking was the use, in the kitchen, of the finest quality table butter. The use of herbs and seasoning is also of great importance in both simple and classic French cooking. in "The Art of Simple French Cookery", the author deliberately avoids naming, or advising the use of bottled flavoring products for these recipes. Instead, he has given the different proportions for various herbs to be employed in their preparation. The judicious use of herbs and seasoning can, and does, make such a difference to soups and stews. Many will be familiar with the great Alexandre Dumaine (one of the greatest French chefs of the 20th century). Two conclusions can be drawn from Alexandre's remark that "exactness in cooking is difficult to achieve". One is that the difficulty resides in achieving the exact required result, according to the precise indications in the recipe; the other, that you have to reckon with your own particular taste and that of the family, or of your guests. We are not all born with uniform palates: you may like garlic, others may not; some prefer lemon juice, instead of vinegar, in the salad dressing etc. There must, therefore, remain a margin in the prescribed amount of herbs and seasoning to be used in the preparation of these dishes. Alexandre Dumaine was, indeed, in the opinion of many acclaimed gourmets, the most skilled and inspired chef of his generation in France. Throughout his gastronomic investigations, the author of "The Art of Simple French Cookery" has made the acquaintance of most of the well-known chefs in Paris and throughout France. But none he had known were as impassioned with their culinary pursuit as Dumaine. During the numerous discussions they had together, concerning both simple and classic French cooking, he reiterated, with great solemnity that commanded respect, that for him "their existed no finer profession". Further information about this amazing book ("The Art of Simple French Cookery") can be obtained via the Resource Box appended to this article. We at Kersland Direct scour the globe, on behalf of our readers, for the very finest informational products and resources. Anyone in the world By Steve Pavlina With regards to the post on Dealing With Difficult People, several commenters asked follow-up questions on how to deal with difficult relatives, such as an overbearing parent or in-law. The original post was written in terms of dealing with difficult people with whom you have a professional relationship, such as your boss or a co-worker. But if the problem person is a relative and your relationship is personal instead of professional, thats a whole different beast. Define and verbalize your boundaries You set the boundaries in your relationships. If those boundaries are crossed and the other person cant seem to take the hint, you have to assert yourself to restore balance. If you have relatives who fail to respect your boundaries and behave as if the purpose of your relationship is for you to bend over backwards to satisfy all of their needs, you certainly arent alone. Im talking about boundaries that you consider to be bottom lines that should not be crossed, ones that make you feel violated when they are. For example, if you value your privacy and a relative insists on frequent unannounced drop-in visits, that may be a bottom line for you. Or if your mother-in-law, Endora, keeps turning you into barnyard animals without your consent, you might feel its time to put a stop to it, especially if you begin craving grass while in human form. The first thing to realize is that its perfectly OK to satisfy your own needs. A relationship that makes you feel violated isnt healthy. Correcting problematic relationships in a physical, external world sense is fairly straightforward. You must clearly define the boundaries youre comfortable with, let the other person know what those boundaries are, and then enforce them. There isnt much more to it than that. If your boundaries are reasonable, and the person is either unwilling or incapable of complying with them, youre done in most situations it would be foolish to continue such a relationship. It will only erode your self-respect. If youve been going years without clearly verbalizing and enforcing your boundaries like a mature adult (i.e. youve been letting the other person treat you like a child for too long), most likely the other person wont take you seriously at first. They may even react with a bit of shock (usually feigned) at the mere suggestion that you dare attempt to put restrictions on their behavior. Just let that person have their reaction, but stand your ground anyway. Enforce your boundaries There are many ways to enforce your boundaries. Heres an approach I happen to like. Let the other person know that for the next 30 days, you intend to strictly enforce the boundaries youve described. And if that person violates your boundaries even once during those 30 days, you then begin a 30-day communications blackout. For 30 days you simply have no contact with the other person. No drop-in visits, no phone calls, no emails, nothing unless its absolutely mandatory. After the 30-day fasting period, you can restart the original 30-day boundary-enforcement trial and repeat the process. Of course you should let the other person know youre doing this be totally transparent about what youre doing. Also, let the other person know that youre resorting to this process because theyve left you no choice. If the other person attempts to make contact with you at all during the 30-day blackout, the 30 days resets to day 1. If this happens more than a couple times and you reach the point where youre pretty clear the other person has no intention of respecting your boundaries whatsoever, regardless of your attempts to enforce them, then youre done. The relationship is dead, at least in its current form. If the other person cant even respect your boundaries for 30 days, then what kind of future do you have together? It means that your boundaries will be trampled for as long as you allow the relationship to continue to exist in its current form. This might sound a bit harsh, but keep in mind that before you reach this point, youve already expressed your needs clearly to the other person, and you were trampled. You owe it to yourself to take a step back and see if you really wish to continue this relationship at all. The 30-day blackout period is a time for both of you to re-evaluate your relationship from a distance. Its also a massive pattern interrupt that lets the other person know with certainty that theyve crossed an uncrossable line, and enough is enough. Disarm the primary weapon of guilt If the other person attempts to use guilt as a tool of manipulation (which is extremely common), thats fairly easy to overcome. Whenever you perceive the other person attempting to manipulate your emotions by making you feel guilty, bring the whole matter to conscious awareness by asking, Youre not trying to make me feel guilty, are you? The other person will probably deny it, but soon the pattern will re-emerge. Keep interrupting the pattern of falling into a state of guilt by bringing attention to the other persons emotionally manipulative tactics. Simply keep asking questions like, Why do you feel it necessary to attempt to use guilt as a tool of manipulation? or You must really find this upsetting if you feel it necessary to try to make me feel guilty to get what you want? Can we try a more mature way of discussing this perhaps? You dont need to beat the person up about it, but put a stop to the weapon of guilt once and for all. If you refuse to enter the emotional state of guilt, it will allow you to be more compassionate in seeing that the other person is probably using guilt because they feel powerless. And if you can address that powerlessness, you have the opportunity to transform the relationship for good. Who does the enforcing? If the problem relative is an in-law (or equivalent if youre not married), then the person most closely related to them is the one who must do the enforcing (i.e. your significant other). This is especially important in a marriage. You and your spouse must put each other first above all other relatives. If one of your spouses relatives is violating your boundaries, then your spouse must bring it to their attention and do the enforcing. Problems of this nature are especially common in relationships between 20-somethings because youre often in a transitional phase with how you identify your primary family. For example, if youre living with someone, you may be getting closer to them while still thinking of your family as the one you were born into. But when youre married with a couple kids, youre likely to think of your primary family as your spouse and children. So for many people the 20s represent a period of shifting identities, a time when problems with other relatives can spike because they interfere with your romantic relationship, and your partner will bring it to your attention. Its not uncommon to be living with someone and building a close romantic relationship while gradually discovering the other person is still married to his/her Mommy (or equivalent). When you see this pattern occurring where you dont have the leverage to enforce boundaries on your spouses relative, and your partner seems spineless about having a confrontation, then you have to enforce these boundaries with YOUR PARTNER by holding him/her directly responsible for the behavior of his/her relative. This has the benefit of pushing your partner to grow up (albeit sometimes kicking and screaming) and learning to put your needs first and Mommys needs second. Some people just need a good kick to get themselves out of childhood and into adulthood, especially during their 20s. In the long run, your partner will likely be grateful to you for his/her new spine. If all else fails, run! If the above solution fails, just up and move to another city. Many people swear their marriages have been saved by this solution. Copyright Steve Pavlina Steve Pavlina

Anyone in the world By Connie LeGendre The majority of focal points in your garden will survive the winter but may sustain some damage or wear. While planting and gardening may have to wait for warmer weather, it is time to get out the tools, restoration and scouring materials to repair and clean. Before you replace your water feature, gazebo, sculpture, or other wood, stone, metal, iron or tile focal points, you may want to look into fixing them. There are many repair, restoration, and cleaning products on the market to bring your garden focal point back to its original or near original condition. Although often you will be referred to a professional to handle some of your restoration or repairs, your local home renovation stores have many of the materials and supplies necessary to make your focal point look as good as new. However, pick your battles carefully. If the project is small enough or does not require the handling of toxic materials, then a do-it-yourself approach is a good solution. On the other hand, if the project is large, complex, or toxic, hire a professional. You will save money, time, and possibly your health. Speaking of health, be especially careful about repairing or cleaning garden ornaments that will affect pets and wildlife, such as bird baths and ponds. It is possible that toxic elements can leach into the water and have an adverse affect on birds using your bird bath and fish in your pond. And even more important, protect yourself from the hazards involved in handling toxic materials. Wear appropriate gloves, eye covering, masks, coveralls, and shoes. You may not need to use all of this gear at once, but be sure to use whatever protection is necessary and recommended by the manufacturer. It goes without saying, but worth mentioning anyway, that you should read the directions on every cleaner, restoration or repair materials you plan to use. It is wise to do this where you buy it in case you have questions that could be answered by the store consultants or clerks. Finally, if you have cleaning, repairing or restoration material left over from another season, be sure to check on its shelf life, as well as to remind yourself of its use to avoid damaging your treasured focal points. Some products stain, tarnish, or rust wood, stone or metal because of age. Are you ready for the weather to warm up and to get busy with readying your landscape for Spring? Anyone in the world By Cassandra Mack The youth development framework is an approach to working with young people that encompasses four things: it is designed to meet the developmental needs of youth, builds on their assets and potential, views young people as resources and builds partnerships with youth to create positive, sustaining change. The youth development framework derived from common theories and approaches that strive to build a core set of skills, characteristics and competencies on the individual as well as the organizational level that are needed to provide support and opportunities for all young people. By nature this framework is multi-faceted. No one person, institution or organization acting alone can ensure that all youth acquire the assets, skills and support they need to succeed. It takes all of us working toward common goals and adhering to the common principles of youth development to make this happen. There are 8 key principles of youth development. They are: an organizational structure that is supportive of youth development, a safe, physical environment that is supportive of the youth and staffs needs, a holistic approach to all youth, youth contribution and collaboration, supportive relationships, high expectations and clear limits, activities that are engaging and that foster learning, mechanisms in place to help youth move forward as young adults. 1. An Organizational Structure That Is Supportive of Youth Development An organizational structure that is supportive to youth development encompasses five elements. First, the mission and vision statements of the organization promote youth development and a sizeable portion of the organizations budget is allocated for direct services for youth. Second, staff and board members have a clear understanding of the organizations mission and vision statement and direct their planning, advocacy efforts and services around this mission and vision. Third, the organization invests in staff development and training and staffs input is encouraged and implemented. Fourth, all levels of staff are kept abreast of the organizations goals, plans and changes. And fifth, the organization advocates around policy, funding and direct service issues as they relate to its constituents. 2. A Safe, Physical Environment That Is Supportive of the Youth and Staffs Needs A safe physical environment that is supportive of the youth and staffs needs encompasses five elements. First, the actual building is physically safe, clean with good lighting and working facilities. Second, a safety and emergency plan is in place with all staff being trained in emergency procedures. Third, rules are published and displayed in a conspicuous place. Fourth, staff members are equipped with the supplies, equipment and space that they need to perform their job duties effectively. Fifth, youth have their own youth friendly space where they can hang out while waiting for a worker. 3. A Holistic Approach To All Youth Taking a holistic approach to all youth means at the very minimum your organization is doing these four things. Promoting cultural diversity with respect to ethnicity, social background, gender issues, sexual orientation and youth culture. Second, staff at all levels are reflective of the population that is being served. Third, the entire organization is orientated to the agencys mission, vision goals and services by way of staff meetings, announcements and newsletters. Fourth, a referral system is in place by way of a directory of services as well as staff contacts to ensure that all youth get proper referrals when needed. 4. Youth Contribution and Collaboration A critical component of the youth development framework is providing youth with opportunities for contribution and collaboration. This means: allowing youth to contribute their ideas for programs, services and special events and projects. Set up youth advisory councils and committees. Create volunteer and paid opportunities for youth. Develop community service projects in which youth plan and implement the tasks. Involve youth in advocacy efforts. Encourage youth to participate in civic events, forums and town hall meetings. Sponsor voter registration drives in collaboration with youth. Youth should also play a role in planning activities, decorating the space and orientating new youth to the program. Provide youth with membership cards, buttons or t-shirts to create a sense of ownership and identification with the program. 5. Supportive Relationships All youth need adults in their lives who care about them and support them in their dreams, goals and aspirations. It is essential that the organization and its staff provide a caring climate where every young person has someone who he can talk to, tracks her progress, helps him set goals and connects her with resources when necessary. Second, there should be strategies in place for parental involvement and for parents to talk to staff about their concerns and challenges. Third, interactions with youth should be respectful, positive and appropriate. Fourth, there should be some degree of staff consistency. Lastly, confidentiality procedures should be clear and communicated to all youth. 6. High Expectations and Clear Limits Youth service providers should have high expectations for youth and should model these expectations by way of their behavior at work. Focus on strengths. Clear limits should be set with consequences other than expulsion. All youth should receive a copy of the organizations written code of conduct and staff should thoroughly go over the rules. Create ownership of the rules by setting up a youth court to help deal with problematic behavior. 7. Activities That Are Engaging and That Foster Learning The organization should provide programs, services and activities that promote cognitive, social and emotional development. Build critical thinking, decision making, team building and problem solving skills into group and individual activities. Provide life skills training on topics such as: money management, employment readiness, time management and other important life skills. Make sure that activities are developmentally and age appropriate for your target group. Make learning interesting by fostering curiosity and creativity. 8. Mechanisms In Place To Help Youth Move Forward As Young Adults Build room in your programs for youth to transition towards adulthood. Programs should be provided for different age groups. When youth age out of one program they should be easily bridged into the next. Give youth more rights and responsibilities as they move up from one program into the next. Create volunteer opportunities and internships for older youth. Train older youth and hire them as paid staff. Create closure by way of formal rituals such as: graduations, awards ceremonies or a one-on-one termination session that creates closure for youth and helps them to plan their next steps. For some interesting, out-of-the-box, ideas on rituals and ceremonies you can refer to my book, Her Rite of Passage: How To Design And Deliver A Rites of Passage Program for African-American Girls and Young Women. After you have spent some time familiarizing yourself with the 8 key principles of youth development, take a closer look at your organization and see how it measures up in terms of being supportive of the youth development approach. Then, share this information with your supervisor, your colleagues and people you supervise if you are a supervisor. And if your organization is not doing so already, then perhaps together you can make it an agency wide or at least a program wide effort to incorporate the 8 key principles of youth development into the different service areas of your organization. Anyone in the world By Kevin P. Dervin Marketing is an ongoing journey for your business. That might seem like an obvious statement, but the actions of many small business owners might indicate otherwise. For many you build a web site, or create a brochure, or go to a few networking events and then you wait for results to happen. Effective marketing rarely works like that. It takes regular and consistent effort to keep your pipeline full of good high-quality leads that you can work on converting into paying clients. It doesn't have to be an all-consuming effort, but it does take consistent effort. Here are four ideas for continuously moving your marketing forward: Study up on marketing. There is no shortage of resources out there including books, audio programs, tele-classes, courses, etc. Look for the ones that offer proven, hands-on strategies and tactics, not get-rich-quick schemes. Form or join a "think tank" or "mastermind group." Find a group of people who will care just as much about your success as you do (and that you'll care about their success). This isn't just a group of friends who will tell you what you want to hear, but a group that will hold you accountable and support you. Attend talks and workshops regularly. If you go an participate fully, you'll often get just a much from the other participants as you will from the talk itself. Brainstorm with those you meet and find out what's working for them in their business. Get hands-on assistance. Working with a marketing coach or consultant who can help you focus, set goals, prioritize, create action plans, and help hold you accountable could be one of the best investments you make in your business. Support from outside resources like these can help you shift your mindset and make marketing the ongoing journey it needs to be.
